2024 GIGS
Concert with the Felling Male Voice Choir
In October we were once again guests of the friendly and generous
Felling Male Voice Choir, this time at St George's, Jesmond. We had
a load of fun, and despite our small size at the moment, everyone
agreed that we sounded as good as we have for a long time.
2019 GIGS
The Kingdom Choir
On 9 May we were very excited to be the guest choir in the sell-out
concert at Sage Gateshead by The Kingdom Choir, the stunning
Gospel group who made a worldwide impact with their performance
of Stand by Me at the wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.
The choir were near the start of a major tour of 15 UK cities followed
by Australia and the U.S.A., and were absolutely superb. So were we!
Rugby World Cup Warm-up
On 6 September we experienced our first gig at St. James's Park.
We were invited to sing before the England Rugby team's final match
in the UK (against Italy) before they headed off to Japan for the Rugby
World Cup. We accompanied the very successful soprano Laura Wright
in Jerusalem, the English and (very cheerful) Italian national anthems,
and also had our own slot, singing our version of I Can See Clearly Now
backed by our own CD. It was a great experience for the choir and we
even got to watch the rugby from pretty posh seats. All very exciting!
(Scottee has still not recovered from the experience of conducting a
choir of 50,000 in the national anthem.)
Christmas at the Cathedral:
On 19 December we were the choir for our sixth Christmas at the
Cathedral at St. Nicholas's, with a host of classy celebrities, including
our old friends The Caffreys. Highlight for us this year was backing
Jimmy Nail (alongside the Pebble String Quartet) in She's Leaving Home
by the Beatles - very moving. Extracts from the gig were broadcast on
BBC Radio Newcastle on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day - alongside
our annual appearance on Alfie and Anna's Christmas Eve breakfast show.
Swing Bridge Singers annual Get-together Gig:
As usual our last gig of the year, on 30 December, was our annual
bunfight with ex-members at Sage Gateshead. A great atmosphere as
usual, and particularly successful CD sales!
